The latest jobs report came out today and it revealed the staggering figure that 533,000 jobs were lost in November. I'm beyond being angry at the Bush administration and the Republicans who between '94 and '06 helped to gut regulations and drive us into this mess, because frankly, I'm sure there were a lot of Democrats who helped grease the skids. I'm just growing scared. I have a job, but frankly who can feel secure about having one in this economy? Is the sky falling? No. But are things real bad and bound to get worse? Yeah, I think so.
And, I keep thinking, where is all the money going to come from for all these stimulus packages and fixes? I know that now's not the time to necessarily worry about the deficit, but seriously, how can we pay for it all? Plus two wars? And international aid to make sure our allies stay our allies?
I have to hand it to Obama, however, for coming out of the box swinging. I like his moves so far with his cabinet choices, and I've liked his continued calm, measured tone. But, I know he can't correct everything. And therein lies my concern.
Here's Obama's weekly address. It made me feel a little better...

Happy Holidays!

I have often wondered what could be accomplished in this country if we were not tied to this absurd "Dems build it up then Repubs tear it down" cycle. When this country gets back onto its feet, slightly more than half of the voting public will forget how inept the Repubs are at government and be swayed by promises of free markets and whatnot; and things will fall apart again.
