Four years ago, I remember how much everyone on SG seemed to hate Bush. EVERYONE hated Bush. And yet, he was re-elected, in part because younger voters didn't turn out in large numbers as a lot of people had predicted. I can't point a finger at everyone on SG, but let's face it, a lot of you didn't turn up at the polls.

I voted in that election, as I do in all elections, and I voted for John Kerry. In hindsight, he was not the greatest of candidates, but he was not George Bush, and I thought he might be able to do somethings to improve the country.

He lost, as did Gore four years before him, and I learned a hard lesson... that it's not enough to just vote for your candidate. So, I'm asking you, SG members, whether you're a newly registered 18-year-old or a member of the Geezers Group, please vote in this election (and in a primary if there's one in your state). And if you could, please vote for Barack Obama. I'm not against Hillary Rodham Clinton, instead I'm for Obama. I think he understands more about this country and what it needs than the other candidates.
