As I was watching the coverage from Iowa Thursday night, I began to think about Clinton. Bill Clinton. That was the last time, heck, the first time, a politician actually made me feel pretty good. Not from Iowa because he didn't win there in '92, but just in general. He presented a sense of hope and freshness that we hadn't seen in years.
Until last night.
Honestly, I can't even put my finger on it. I don't know what it is that he has, but Obama is something different. I can nitpick his policies, or lack of them, or any number of things, but I can't nitpick his ability to move people.
I was going to vote for a Democrat no matter which candidate won the nomination. But now, now I truly hope Obama wins. I'd always liked him, but my support was sort of lukewarm. That's going to change. But unfortunately, there's a long, hard road between now and the party's nomination. I hope he survives it and thrives.
