So I watched the season finale of Nip/Tuck last night on FX. I had seen like 2 episodes before last night and although it was addicting and very intense, it disturbed me. Of course I added all previous discs of all previous seasons to my Netflix queue, but I also had trouble sleeping. It's a scary world of plastic surgery out there, and just to think I had at one point in my life, considered getting something done makes me cringe. I have nothing against people who choose to have a cosmetic surgery, especially if it's for deformities people are born with, scarring from an accident or anything like that, but the idea of a society like the one this show in particular portrays makes me feel gross. It really puts a perspective on the idea of beauty and in a weird way makes me happy that I enjoy the girls of SG and am not one of those psycho celeb-stalker types.
For anyone who wants to loose yet more faith in humanity and American culture, I recommend this show whole heartedly. I'm proud of FX, a FOX run network for having the balls to show, actually, create something provocative. With how conservative FOX is I never would have expected them to impress me with anything. But the uncut gore, language and sexual content on the show are necessary to prove its point, and they have not censored any of it. I have revoked some of my hatred of FOX for what they've done with they're movie channel. Now if they just stop showing Daredevil so much, I might even start to like them.
