And now, a short blog about unexpected friend bat.
I get my boyfriend home from his tech rehearsal for "Urinetown: The Musical" (A real favorite of mine). We DVRed the Tony Awards and got started watching. During the completely unnecessary musical number from Mamma Mia (seriously, couldn't we have heard something from [title of show] instead?) my man and I hear this strange sound coming from outside the living room.
My boyfriend peeks out and seeing my cat playing with.... a bat.
A bat got through the small opening left by cracking th top of my office window, here in our fourth floor apartment.
My man was instantly concerned that the bat may be rabid. The adventure separating terrified bat from curious cat was high on adrenaline. Also amusement, as the bat went completely still onse a pillowcase was tossed over it.
We emptied out a plastic tub for pretzel sticks. It was a small little thing...
Though this picture is better for scale...
We got little bat outside and put him on the roof of a car. When he didn't move, we got concerned, but with a little scoot he was flying away at top speed.
The bat did NOT like Mamma Mia. He seemed to prefer Rock of Ages, of all things.
I realize I have yet to share the awfulness that happened in my family, but it is not as pressing as it should probably be due to some extenuating circumstances, so when life gets in the way of sharing I let it.

Love to you...
