The downfall of Caligula
Is it just me or does the inconsistencies of standardized religion ring true when you scan the television. On one channel you have the Catholics, who place their faith whole heartedly on outdated traditions and spectacles of jewelry....basically a fashion show. On the other channels you have Baptists and other religions that claim the "I am your friend, I want to help you get to heaven........really". I honestly don't see how traveling to a building gets you any closer to god, what he can't hear me at home,in my car,etc.; do you think god really cares that you dress up, that you sit in a building and spew the same rhetoric over and over and over again....the answer is no, most likely not. I suppose I don't really understand the idea of repentance either, so you f-up.....god knows you f'd up because he's you know omnipotent and all, so than you say "oops god, I am SO SORRY for doing that" and than you're forgiven right.....but do you really think that god could create an entire universe full of diversity and yet not be able to tell whether or not you're sorry before you do? I don't know it bothers me that people honestly think that if they "follow the rules" and go to church all the time that they have a get into heaven free card, but what about when those same self righteous people leave their church/synagogue/mosque raising the human condition up on a pedestal and preaching all of that "love your neighbor" this and "peace on Earth" that, and they get cut off by another driver and start shouting obscenities and cursing each other.....sorry guys, but going into a building once a week and falling asleep does'nt make you a better person......well I suppose I've said enough on the topic for now.....just let my words at least soak in for a minute before you make any rash judgments or defensive gestures, that's all I ask....think for yourself for a change, or should I write a book,wait 2000+ years and than preach it as law? your call.
