spending most of the weekend at uni. I'M SO COOL.
got a friends 30th birthday partay to go to tomorrow night.
he looked really depressed when we went and saw him on his actual birthday day. ger. i'm sure i'll get drunk at his birthday (on election day) and yell at any Liberal voters (in australia the "Liberals" are the right iwingers. go figure. not that any americans are probably reading my journal), and get into an amusing fight. that'll totally cheer my friend up and distract him from his thoughts on being a not-twenty-something.

Most unfortunate that your Mr Howard has managed to re-install himself too. Australia's about unique I think in having the fine for non-voting? Having spent time earlier this year in Nepal seeing people shot dead by government troops whilst in the pursuit of democracy, I do get a tad irritated by people in the developed world who don't bother to exercise their franchise. Many of 'em here, I fear...

I just don't get this whole "I don't vote cos they're as bad as each other" BS... Its pseudo-intellectual posturing nothing more, nothing less. If you don't think there's a difference, look again, take away that false sense of superiority that your year 12 anarchic leftist social studies teacher gave you, or your tripped out conscientious objector father washed you in and take part in society goddamnit. If you fail to find someone worthy of your vote on the register, move someplace where voting isn't required or open your eyes to the injustices our society perpetrates on its minorities...its so easy to hide behind your keyboard and stolen cultural buzz words and McDonalds ass like some bloated omnipotent opinionated geek, the difficult and learned response is to get involved and do something about it...
