Good morning y'all 🌵
@missy @rambo @lyxzen & @charmaine gave us one hell of an assignment this week! I think I speak for everyone when I say this is super hard, especially for music lovers like myself! Sooo here goes (in no particular order):
❤ Elton John's "Your Song" is one I hold pretty close to my heart. I've been a huge fan of Mr. Weird & Wonderful since I was in 6th grade, but this song is by far my favorite of all his marvelous works. It's actually in the running to be the first dance song at my wedding purely because it's one of the most genuinely heartfelt songs I've ever heard.
❤ Pink Floyd's "Time" is brilliant. Of course, I expect nothing less from my favorite band of all time, but this particular song really resonates with me. Though it's one of their later works off of their (arguably) most mainstream album, I'd have to say it's my favorite song of theirs. One of my greatest fears in life is time; not having enough, wasting it, letting life pass me by. So it's only right that this song makes the list!
❤ Frank Sinatra's "Moonlight in Vermont": Though this song has been covered by everyone in the book, my man's rendition is by far the most enchanting. "Pennies in a stream/falling leaves, a sycamore/moonlight in Vermont" It just takes me to another place. I especially love hearing it on vinyl!
❤ Amy Winehouse's "Halftime" was released on her posthumous album Lioness: Hidden Treasures (which is amazing by the way). This song is basically her ode to her own music, and in a way, it's more raw & authentic than her tales of heartbreak & addiction. It's definitely worth a listen! It kills me that we'll never see another album from her. RIP babygirl 💋
Had to throw a fun one in here too!!!
❤ Die Antwoord's "Fish Paste" is basically my fuck you song to everyone & everything. Whenever I jam it, I feel like a total badass! But who am I kidding, almost all of their songs have that effect on me 🔪 I'd rather zef the fuck out than suffer through most new "rap".
Hope y'all enjoyed 😘
