Hey, folks. This is my blog following up on my one last night. As I said, I passed my dive course and became a fully certified Open Water diver. We did our course at Porteau Cove, which was a lot like Whytecliff Park in that it was a beach with a lot of tree stumps lying around.

I had to arrive early because I had to complete the skills from dive #2 that I wasn't able to finish last weekend before my health concerns prompted the cancellation of that dive. For a moment, I was concerned that I might not be able to pull it off, as on my first attempt to go under the water, I ended up skipping a breath and began to hyperventilate and nearly became panicky the second time. On the third time, however, I went down without any problems and was able to successfully complete the remaining skills.

We then got out of the water and joined up the students from the class who I would be joining. We relaxed for a bit and headed back in for the remaining two dives. And I have to say that it was a lot easier than it had been the first time (Id like to think that its because I hadnt been in the water in over a week that I panicked; once I gotten used to things, I got back into the swing). We saw a lot of interesting things in the water; couple of crabs, underwater plants, a few starfish (including one the size of a manhole cover) and a few jellyfish (which unfortunately stung one of my classmates; shes all right though).

At the end, we worked on our log books and were handed our graduation certificates. I had fun diving with the class, and got their names and numbers just in case we wanted to arrange another trip.

Overall, Im glad I did it. It took a while, and it was exhausting, but it was worth it in the end.
