Damn, it's been a while since my last journal entry. Lots to write about, but I don't really want to put in that much effort, right now. So, I'll just say that I'm currently reading the Peloponesian War by Thucydides (hope I didn't mispell that). I'm newly impressed by the ancient Greeks' clearheadedness. Not in all matters, by any means--their fundemental moral/ethical values leave a lot to be desired--but their respect for reason and knowledge is barely to be believed. Thucydides inparticular was a great thinker. He seldom flinches from presenting widely diverse viewpoints and arguments in crisp, bold, and concise language. The chapters about the causes and the debate of the Spartan assembly are of particular relevance to us today.
