I sent out the evite for my 10th wedding anniversary party the other day. It's a party for our Seattle Family, those people we've come to love and depend on here, in place of our geographically-challenged biological family.

One of the first people I hung out with here, one of the first I considered a part of my west coast family, won't come. He won't come because an obsession. He quit (he says he got fired) Jeff's band because it wasn't working out musically. It was a band decision, a business decision, totally separate from the friendship, nothing personal. I felt bad for him at the time; I thought it was handled poorly, I could see both sides, blahblah, but I'm over it. The guy is so obsessed with his so-called rejection that he can't speak to me of anything else, what an asshole Jeff is, how good they were together--god, he sounds like a jilted girl -- like that character played by Lili Taylor in Say Anything? (Was that it?) I'm so sick of hearing about it puke I'm sad that he has chosen to disown himself from my family frown but I don't really want to talk to him anymore until he can talk about something else.

AND

Another good friend might not come because his bandmate (also one of our oldest friends here) is trying to set up a show that night. mad People's priorities, I swear. We're supposed to be spending the day surrounded by those we love whom we didn't know yet when we got married--oh, the rejection! frown I don't know if I'll ever recover! whatever Fuck it. Whoever shows up, great. If not, hey, no big deal. I know where they live ARRR!!! skull ARRR!!! skull

cats are great. I grew up with cats, I miss having one around the house. I just don't know how my current dog would respond to a kitty.
