My son (of the four-legged variety; I don't reserve full membership in the family to humans only) died a few months ago. Cancer. It was a long time coming, and I spent every minute I could with him that last year of his life.

Thus dropping off the face of the internet for so long. Sorry about that, but family (two-leg or four-leg) comes first.

Now I've more or less put myself back together, and it's time to start making friends again.

I've also started writing again...

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
It's a script for a comic book project which I'm calling "Enherjar", and which uses a lot of Norse/Teutonic mythology as prophecies from ancient times (most of which have already come to pass, but Loki's betrayal and the whole endgame of Ragnarok are waiting for my protagonist's arrival). For the protagonist I have a modern teenaged boy with Star Trek's character Worf as his favorite role model, who dies in issue one and finds himself taken to Valhalla to take an active part in the mythology.

I've also mixed a lot of science fiction into the setting, under the premise that the original scribes described what they saw in terms they could understand, and so for example the details of Loki's expertise as a genetic engineer (thus his three children Fenris, Jormangundr, & Hel being so wildly different in form) were obviously ommitted from the narrative. And this way the frost giants' terrible strength, huge bodies coated in a permanent rime of frost, and armor that's impenetrable to anything less than the weapon of a great mythic hero (or a god)... Well, they're mecha. From a glacial world. Fimbulwinter, as terraforming. That sort of thing.

Such is the notion. I hope you folks at least find it amusing.
