So, now we are in Greece. Athens, specifically. Here I was born and raised, in the heart of the red light district, before leaving for Berkeley at seventeen with my guitar, two hundred bucks and a tuition check. That's a longer story I'm way too lazy to tell. I've since moved away from the brothels to the Northern suburbs, where the better areas in Athens are, walking distance from the Olympic Stadium. It took me ten trips from the US in 2008-09 to renovate and set up a small but very livable home, with a yard and a garage. Others in the US build lake houses, I had to do it the hard way. But I have wonderful and plentiful friendships here, not to mention the gorgeous land itself if you've been, you know. I've logged over thirty countries, but none stands so tall as this. Well, maybe the south of France, but let's not get technical.

That was a long preamble, back to the present. I've been here six weeks now and counting. Oh my, who's counting? Clubs here close anywhere between 4 and 6am. I know first hand, I even offered to close up, but they preferred I pay my bill instead. Greek men at clubs pose more than dance, so it's been working out great for me, giving me a natural advantage with women. Even if I step on a few toes [wink] I'll take any advantage I can get, including recently growing a beard. In Greece it's not only a trend, literally the vast majority of men have beards. Thank goodness it's still only a minority of women. Back to my beard, I accept votes on which looks better, with or without.

My sleeping hours are, as you might guess, uneven. Usually sleep at 7am until 2pm, eat breakfast and lunch by 4, goof off till 9pm, early dinner by 10:30, meet up with friends at 11 or 12 ,then out. The nights I don't club, I rehearse. House has good acoustics and I don't share walls, so my little Yamaha THR5A can crank pretty good without the police getting called. Recently I've been hell bent on recording my practices. I'm about to youtube a few Mumford &Sons tunes. No mercy.

Tomorrow- the illegal speed adventures around Attica, as we are getting ready for the islands.

Thanks Rudi! Here's an earlier pic of the house. I lost all three of my beautiful palm trees this year, due to a disease pandemic introduced from Africa in 2004 Olympics. It was so sad. When I get a job next, I'll be adding trees, wooden pergolas, and a jacuzzi. Best part of the renovation - a large granite kitchen instead of the shitty little ones they have here, and 110v plugs throughout, in addition to 220's

Great picture Alex! Awesome vegetation around the house! Hmm, sorry about the palms, that's very sad, I can tell from the picture it looked perfect! Wish you the best on your upcoming additions, enjoy seeing the progress!
You are going to start a trend when all your friends and neighbors will see your awesome large granite kitchen! They all will want one just like that!
