Wow. I can't say I've ever had to deal with something like that but I'm sorry. Hopefully she can conquer her demons, for her sake and for yours, since you obviously care a lot about her. Sometimes you get to a point where there's nothing you can do, you just have to hope for the best. To me it sounds like all she needs is a good change of environment, but often times that's easier said that done. Who knows. Whatever happens, you're truly a good friend to her.
