phew. The tat is nice and healed now and I'm psyching myself up for the next session later this summer.

My boy and I just returned home from a quick trip out to Boston. It was my first time to the east coast, and as lovely as it was out there I must say that I really do love SF more. But then again I was only in one city so I shouldn't really make up my mind just yet.
We were in Boston to attend Matt's little brother's graduation from Boston College. This was my first large college graduation (both Matt's and mine were fairly small as UCSC breaks down the ceremonies to contain only one subcollege, of which there were 8). And this thing took foooorrrrever! We were sitting in bleachers from 10am until 3pm! Damn. The more interesting parts of the ceremony was watching the crowd react to Secretary of State Condelezza Rice's commencement speech. The whole campus was in an uproar when they announced her as the key note speaker a few weeks ago, but in the end it was all quite subdued. A good portion of the crowd booed as she entered the stadium, but they (or we i should say) were quickly drowned out by the cheering conservative folks there. Most of the professors on the field stood up and turned their backs on her as she gave her speech, and most of them were holding "not in my name" and other such signs along those lines.

Matt and I even spotted sniper types and secret service men throughout the stadium and crowd. Rather trippy. Oh, and this plane was circling over head:

(reads: your war brings dishonor!)

The rest of the trip was full of discovering Boston and doing a few touisty things. Such as visiting Cheers:

Walking the freedom trail:

And checking out the cool architecture and admiring old graveyards:

Overall a good (but short) trip. And I'm more than happy to be back next to the pacific ocean.
