THE CONTROVERSIAL NANA SET
just a quick response to all those that have been messaging me about the Nana set. I am sorry I dont have time and internet space right now for replying in all the threads.
My work for SG is based on working the set subject along with the model, meaning giving my eye to an idea, and working on the subject together with the girl. The set has various influences in art, Ken-ichi Murata, Izima Kaoru, Shimotsuma Monogatari, and it was never shot with the intent of offending anyone, but more with a narrative approach: talking about rape is NOT disprespecting rape victims. I see art also as a cathartic medium that can be used to have an insight on topics that we often remove from our conscience: the taboo, the pain, the violence are part of life.
I dont share Nana's political views, but I respect her research, and I see her as someone that really lives her own life as if she were herself an artpiece. Her way of being provocative is never superficial or lacks motivation, and i deeply respect that.
This being said, I am sorry if the set was offensive to anyone, the aim was getting people thinking, wich to me is the biggest power of communication and art.

I wasn't in shock after looking at the set whatsoever, but I was shocked to see how much bad press it received.
