God I hate tax time. I got my last 1099 today. I have 6 this year. Complications are on ther rise. I do the taxes myself, so it usually takes me 2 weeks of a couple of hours each day to finish. Yeah ... did you see the movie The Corporation or read the book??? It is pretty fucked up .. a corporation has all the characterisitics of a psychopath .... and they talked about the origins of corporate personhood and how it has basically ruined the world. It is pretty scary shit ... and I don't scare easy ... I think reality is far scarier than 99.9% of the shit they make up.
I think that sucks about your paper!! Don't take it personal ... the entire educational system, save for a few brave souls, is comprised of those who want to stifle individual thought and originality.
