Oh, okay. That was my first encounter with monastrell (or anyway the first one where I noticed him being an active thrower of troll bait), so I wasn't sure. It did seem like the signs pointed to "retire the hammer before you break it on his head," though.

I tried to make an animated GIF of static for you in After Effects. I used a random noise generator and de-saturated it to greytones. I then brought the levels out so that the static had a nice even distribution across the histogram, with true black and true white.
When I rendered the GIF, I set the color palette to use the 256 colors of the grey (indexed) to further ensure that it was nice and static-y.
One second of this goodness ended up being huge. Like 2MB. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get the file size down to less than 500KB.
I guess that (pseudo)random really doesn't compress that well. Sorry... but I tried. And not because I dislike your current icon, but because I thought I could make one that was sharper and more static-y.
Let me know if you want me to try something else.
