This weekend in Atlanta is Folk Fest, the world's largest folk art show and sale. There are some fuckin' righteous self-taught artists here, and you can get lots of stuff on the cheap. Limited edition prints for $25 or less, original pieces for under $100.
Folk art isn't all quilts and shit. This is paint and canvas, mixed media, sculpture made with found objects. Jane got me into this stuff, and I owe her.
Speaking of Jane, she called tonight. Her sister just got engaged, so she is feeling like a loser. I'm not the type to be artificially rosy, so I couldn't be all "you'll find somebody; it just takes time, yada yada...." So what do you do? I just let her know it's something I go through, too - feeling like nobody would even notice if you simply vanished. She may come down for Folk Fest, but she's got a busy weekend planned already. I'd like to see her.
I didn't tell her about the DUI.

I doubt it's a first. I live in a complex where my front door faces South. There are units on the West & East of mine. The sun never reaches the patio ground fully. When we get our rains out here, it comes in 1"-2" downpours. Sometimes for a few days in a row. I have green lichen growing in both of my patios. Plus, the walls are covered in a textured faux adobe mix. The little crevices are exactly perfect for such organisms to grow in!
