So sometimes I'm a little bit slow to really work things out in my head. But I get there eventually, if it's anything I give a shit about.
I've heard the argument that there's nothing wrong with the death penalty when we REALLY REALLY know that the person is guilty of the heinous crime of which they've been accused. But our system of trial by jury, dear reader, is built upon the premise that you shall only be convicted if 12 of your peers believe that there is NO REASONABLE DOUBT as to your guilt. Ergo, if you are convicted, we "REALLY REALLY know" that you committed the crime.
Face it - our judicial system is flawed. I'm not saying there's anything better. But we have to accept that, as things are, there's a possibility that we're going to execute an innocent person, As long as there is that possibility, we can't execute anyone.
Lifetime without parole at least gives us the opportunity to correct a mistake.
In brighter news, I'm finally picking up steam on this RTF shit. My boss is pretty impressed with my most recent results. His boss is REALLY impressed.
Too bad my manly PDF and RTF skills don't help me get laid.
