Well, the cold is still here. I added a cough starting last night. Hopefully it's over by Saturday. Some of the ATL folk gettin' together for tater tots and Army of Darkness. Other than the stuffy head and cough, I don't feel too bad. But they're enough.
I'm exchanging email with a very militant feminist in New Jersey. She totally went off on me one time 'cause she didn't like what she perceived to be my attitude toward women. I didn't hear from her for a few days, but she came back. Christ, why do I always get the crazy ones from 1000 miles away? I guess if they're crazy, that's a good place for them to be, tho'.
Work... is picking up. I was feeling really frustrated for several weeks. But I've accomplished a bit and feel much better for it. This RTF code, yeargh! One, it's a dirty fuckin' spec written by M$. Two, their doc on it sucks. Three, the person that wrote the code I'm working on wrote in in C++, but in bad C++. There are few things worse than bad C++. She's pretty friggin' brainy, but this has always been a C (procedural) shop, and it shows. C++ is more than taking some C code and throwing it in a class. Really *a* class. I started to re-write it several times, but every time I get a little bit into it, I decide it's more work than fixing what I got. Oh, yeah. The code is also poorly commented. This is pretty fucking common, and I don't claim to be the best at commenting my code, but it's annoying never the less. Especially when there's arbitrary shit thrown in (why does this say "if x > 50"? answer: "i just picked that").
feh.
I got some new discs from CD Baby. It's the first time I've ordered from them. I did it off a review in Playboy. They have a metric shitload of indy music. If that's what you're into, get thee to CD Baby. I'll prob'ly have these fuckers in the player tomorrow, so I'll let you know what I think.
In the CD player right now is an MP3 mix of Johnny Cash and John Mellencamp. These two are probably my favorite artists ever. Yeah, everybody has their favorite of "right now", but these are two that stand the test of time and replay after replay. I actually gotta reburn that disc, since I've got more music from both of them. That's one of the reasons I'm downstairs on the desktop right now, ripping discs.
It has been a month + since I've had sex.
There's nothin' short of dying
That's half as lonesome as the sound
Of the sleeping city sidewalks
And Sunday morning coming down
