It is possible. You have to face the fear you may crash and burn and walk *sometimes run* straight through that wall. It’s a roll of the dice after that. If you’re lucky and blessed enough to find a partner willing to do the same without exceptions or reservations the result is exquisite bliss. If not… it’s a painful learning curve. Ultimately it’s your choice. You have that freedom to walk among the clouds of the gods, or forever wonder what might have happened. I did it… and sadly let the one true love get away, but that’s another story, and another type of pain…

It's lovely to take that positive lesson from her negative experience.  Who boosts my days?  My mom has always been there even when I was difficult, and made a lot of tough calls.  There's so much she didn't get her way about in life, but she's never complained, and maintains remarkable good cheer.  And my GF.  She always brings me sunbeams, and makes me better by example.  There's a Jack White song about it: https://genius.com/The-white-stripes-im-slowly-turning-into-you-lyrics
