We've always erased history. We try to force patriotism on people by making them drown in stress and loss. All America ever does is manipulate and disadvantage. How can we be proud of what this country did to the indigenous tribes and people? The estimated 50 million slaughtered? And how could we possibly think we haven't kept that streak alive in our constant wars across the globe?
I get on tangents about some of the fucked up shit about this country's choices, past and present. Also, about where the idea of a flag even comes from, what it's purpose is, and why it shouldn't be held in such high regard. It all adds to the problem of indoctrinated rationalism through nationalism. After all, the two worst excuses in history are often found to be: "we've always done it this way" and " I was just doing my job".
I was looking to run for office, I even had a campaign manager, a treasurer and some support. Getting meetings arranged and organizing was challenging and now I am being more careful in my choices regarding it. Why start at a low local level and get railroaded by lifelong corrupted politicians while your trying to do the right thing and earn your way up? If we are to change things for the betterment of all, then we all need to start looking into how this all works a hell of a lot harder than most of us are doing now. It can't be 'of, by and for' the people if the people aren't involved.
If we are going to discuss respecting the people who serve, not the land that happens to be controlled when they are born and magically belong to, then we need to address the severe number of military personnel coming home with mental illness and committing suicide at an alarming rate. We need to discuss why they are fighting, what goes on, and what happens when they reenter civilian life. They need better benefits and programs.
I could go on at length. The main point being is that, yes, it all sucks and always has. If we all cared, we wouldn't have these fucking problems. Yet, these problems still persist throughout all of history...
