Second day of work, pretty much like the first, except I was expected to know what to do. And I did. Cause I rule.
When I got off work I drove to campus to return some material and pick up some films from the UGL. I got Hoop Dreams, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and South Park Season 2. Entertainment, dog Walking around campus is a bitch in the heat, especially after a shift of walking around, hauling trash and dishes and mopping floors, so I tend to take the bus, even the ass-faced subhumans who ride it constantly piss me off. Today was no different. I had just gotten out of the library and I was in a relatively good mood because I'd ran into my Arabic and History professors and a pretty girl whom I vaguely knew but with whom I had never really gotten acquainted. Any day you get to talk to pretty girl is a good day to me. So after we parted ways I walked to the bus stop with a smile on face, which is a rarity. I wait about five minutes and the bus shows up, but as I try to get on their's this pale skinny emo kid trying to exit through the entrance. The bus drivers says to me "Sir, could you please wait until the people exit the bus?" And this made me absolutely livid; the buses are clearly marked with an entrance and an exit. The entrance is at the front and the exit is at the back. It's not difficult to exit through the exit, it just requires more movement from the people in the front of the bus. Few things anger me more than when people are too lazy to follow simple guidelines and matters of ettiquite. But what made me even angrier was the tacit acceptance of his behavior. By asking me to defer to this ass-muncher, she had implicitly accepted and validated his refusal to abide by established norms. Now I've got nothing against breaking rules. There are a lot of rules that deserve to be flouted and broken, but there is a time and a place for rule breaking, and the bus is not one of them. Well, I'm stubborn, and I refused to get out of his way. A brief but heated argument broke out that eventually required two CapMetro officers to intervene. I felt a brief bit of vindication when they told him that he should exit the bus from the exit and not get in people's way, but the incident left a bitter taste in my mouth. I needed some release, so I went to the Rec Center and pounded on a heavy bag for half an hour. Goddamn, it felt good to hit something. I took a lot of skin off my fingers and knuckles, but it was worth it to feel better.
