First day of work, and I have to say, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Of course, the 9 AM shift on Tuesday isn't very demanding, but I remember dead shifts at Jim's being much less enjoyable. Part of the reason it didn't completely gargle balls is that, unlike the normal ass-hat dishwashers Kettle gets, I bus the tables of the waitresses, which they love because it means less work for them. To me, this is just natural behavior. It's what my grandfather taught me, it's what I did at Jim's; why would anyone do otherwise? Regardless, the waitresses took an immediate liking to me, and having friendly people to chat with certainly made the hours go by faster than normal. One of the girls is a transplant from Indiana who majored in anthropology at IU, so we have actually have some things to discuss. The work itself is not very demanding, simply tedious, and since I've done it before it's not very difficult to learn. All in all, this should be an alright job until something better rolls along.
Let's see....what else? I think that covers all the imporant things. My friend Frank is coming to visit me in a couple of days. It's been about six months since I last saw him, so I'm looking forward to his visit. Other than that, not much else to report.
