I had another therapy session and my counselor suggested I go to the Career Counseling center. I really don't know what I want to be. That wasn't a problem when I first got to college; everyone says "Don't worry, you'll figure it out." Well, I'm almost out of college and I still haven't figured it out. I've never gone to the Career Counseling building before, and I'm interested to find out what they have to say.

For most of my life, I've gone down a path that was relatively narrow. Good grades in school so you can get into the right college. Good grades in college so you can get into the right law school. Good grades in law school so you can get the right job, earn a lot of money, have a big house and a fast car and a blonde wife and two perfect children Problem is, here I am, 22 years old, and I'm just coming to the realization that I may not even want to be a lawyer. What's worse, I don't know what else I'd want to be besides a lawyer. I don't know what I'm good at or what I like. And now I feel like it's too late to find out. But it's not.

Oh, and by the way. I just got accepted to law school. Bitches.

oh, i didn't realize it was like THIS when i commented in the group....

hey, i dropped out of an ivy league graduate program b/c it was really NOT WHERE MY HEART IS, and dealt with all the family disappointment, etc., and came around to feeling really supported anyway. i definitely realized that i was groomed for that elite school trajectory, but it was not my true desire. it is for some people. not me, though.

now i work for free on a community garden project (that i LOVE) and i'm in a yoga teacher training program (which i also LOVE) and i never gave that school another glance.

oh, yeah. and i strip for the money. and, although i don't LOVE it, i really like pole dancing and i think it's a pretty honest living.....

seems like we have a few things in common, eh?

It will come to you eventually- what you want to do that is.

I just turned 26 and I've figured out what I want to do. So I've decided to get pro-active and return to college. I guess the good thing is you have your degree or will be getting it soon and that will help you no matter what you choose to be. smile
