It took Kate one day to learn that walking with two legs is better than walking with one. Today while walking, she picked up and put down her right leg on her own about six times. At one point, therapists told her to slow down...seemed like she wanted to run! Can't wait for Monday when the therapy sessions increase!! Mom Angie
Mealtime today was terrific. I teased Kate that I only wanted to hear "yummy", not "pooey," and she gave me a Katie-sarcastic grin, but she ate more of her tray than ever at dinner: pureed carrots and beef, and mashed potatoes. (yes...every meal) I put some of each on her spoon and said it was hash. She ate some...about a third of the plate...and then pigged on applesauce and ice cream. Kate needs to eat 50% of each of the three meals to get her feeding tube out.
At lunch, she also spoke two 20-25 word sentences...all clearly spoken words, no jargon or gibberish. I just didn't hear it all because I am deaf. I am going to start carrying a notepad to write down what I do hear because I get so excited to hear her voice that I forget what she says. Mom Angie
