Where to start....
Even though it was Sunday, it was a busy day. During speech therapy, Kate ate six bites of vanilla pudding; taking each into her mouth with some coaxing, but then moving her tongue from the front to the back of her mouth and finally swallowing with ease. The therapist was thrilled. Tomorrow? Chocolate pudding.
During pt/ot, Kate kicked her left leg high when commanded and also moved it in a CIRCLE when told to do so (a tough concept to understand). I was so happy when she did that I ran to her and kissed her face and nuzzled her. The therapist told me to put my cheek on Kate's mouth and when I did, she asked Kate to kiss me. Kate opened her mouth...twice! The therapist then asked Kate to blow me a kiss and showed her once how to do it. Two hours later, Kate lay in bed, raised her hand close to her face, then tried to move her face close enough to touch her hand to her mouth. I bawled again. She worked at it for almost 30 minutes.
It gets even better.
Dave called this evening and said when he played The Smashing Pumpkins for Kate tonight she said "I know this" clear as a bell. When that CD finished, he put on some oldies and asked Kate if she wanted to listen to them or to swing and she said "I like this."
Today's visitors included brother Dave, his wife Kelly and three year old son Dawson; Michelle Kelly again with Kate's high school friend Erik Rockjohn; and big sis Melissa, husband Keith and daughter Abby.
