Kate's day started early this morning with a 30 minute session in the gym on a tilt table that inclined to almost a 90 degree angle to get her "standing" on her own two feet. She also had two range of motion sessions and a visit from a speech therapist who was pleased with her responses.
Tomorrow Kate will have her trach plugged and nurses will watch her closely to make sure she breathes easily on her own through her nose and mouth. If all goes well, her trach could be removed by the end of the week. Kate's PICC lines were removed today, too. (Those are the lines through which blood is taken and IVs are run...)
A second EEG was run today to get some of Kate's shaking spasms recorded so the neuro can analyze them. We expect results tomorrow.
This evening Kate had her first shower in 5 weeks. She was strapped to a table and wheeled into a shower, where a removable shower head was used to bathe her. I think Kate really enjoyed it...perhaps it reminded her of all those years of swim practice. I shampooed her hair, and that always make both of us feel better.
Tuesday is a huge day...please pray tonight and think of her often tomorrow. Mom Angie
