Today was quiet. Kate spent a relatively restful night, "waking" at about 7:30 this morning when the nursing shift changed. She dozed on and off, had a session with the occupation therapist (for range of motion exercises) and then was placed in the wheelchair again...at about 12:30.
We went outside again...but didn't stay outside as long as yesterday because it was considerably warmer. I thought maybe I had tired her out too much yesterday and caused the tremors to last longer, so I was mindful of that today.
Big sister Melissa visited Kate this afternoon while Dave and I had dinner (the first one I've cooked in a month). He's back at the hospital now trying to see some of the foot, hand and eye movement I saw earlier today.
Tomorrow Kate will have two range of motion sessions with therapists AND a 30 minute session in the "gym" where she will stand up...yes, you read correctly. She gets strapped to a table that slowly inclines until she is standing...so she can get used to having some weight placed on her feet and knees, etc.
She'll also have a shower tomorrow.
I struggled today with sadness for a while...until I was reminded again of Kate's progress. She is only 5 weeks removed from the accident and has made so much progress. I am just impatient.
Instead of being impatient, I will remember the look on her face...a smile around the corners of her mouth...when I kissed her face 10 times in a row and whispered "I love you" when we were in the courtyard.
