During the vigil at Kate's bedside in Marquette those first few critical days, I asked God to give me another day in the sun with Kate...I wanted to be outside with her and I specifically asked for the sun to be shining on us.
Today, my prayer was answered. For the second consecutive day, nurses put Kate into a wheelchair (despite the coma). Yesterday she sat up for two hours. Today I wheeled her down one floor and outside into a courtyard. I took the CD player and played Simon and Garfunkel. The temp was nice and cool and there was a great breeze. We sat in a shaded area and I kissed her face, rubbed her neck and told her how much I loved her.
That's at least half a dozen miracles so far.
Mike from the North Wind visited Kate at around 2...just when we were returning from our trek. Unfortunately she was so tired out, she slept through most of his visit. Now tonight, on Dave's "watch," he said Kate got a bit agitated when her eyes started darting around the room. Her twitching got a bit more pronounced so the nurses gave her a mild sedative. But Dave thinks she may be even closer to emerging.
Maybe another miracle is on the horizon.....
