Suspiria
WARNING! This is a very brutal and graphic scene. If you don't have a strong stomach or a high tolorance for graphic violance I suggest you don't watch this clip!

Suspiria is a film I first heard of while researching movies that influenced and were referenced in Scream. A couple of years later, a college suite mate showed me the infamous first murder sequence in the film and I was stunned, not only by the brutality, but also by the beauty of it. Suspiria is the epitome of "style over substance". The acting is laughable (except for a young Udo Kier, who is always fun to watch) and the plot is barely worth mentioning. But the lighting, cinematography and score (dear god, the score!) are some of the best in the genre. And let's not forget the death sequences. The first 15 minutes contains one of the most famous and elaborate deaths in all of horror (see the clip). While nothing in the next 73 minutes or so will eclipse those first murders, a couple of scenes come close.
While neither the first nor the most shocking, Suspiria still stands out as the most well known and most famous example of Giallo

But yeah...Suspiria. Beautiful movie. And I actually like the story.(I'm an ex-ballerina, it hits close to home!) It has an almost fairytale quality to it. And the hallway scenes always stick out in my head. They just seemed to go on forever.
And please please please....please....don't tell me you had to hear about this amazing movie for the first time from scream? ugh. But I forgive you....you are a kid.
And I will gladly concede that Morrison drops the ball on long plots. His best stuff is definitely his maxi-series (stuff like The Filth). I was so lost at the end of his New X-Men run. I enjoyed each issue, as a stand alone mind trip, but I never GOT the whole arc.
