What the FUCK is wrong with me?
Could I convince you to email me the set in a .zip?
I did get some direction at the weekly conference today. No one thinks that Kate's sudden lack of talking is a regression...actually everyone thought it was a common occurence. Not sure if it was the first dose of antidepressant, but Kate had a deep 12 hour sleep last night. That can only be good. Her physical therapy again today was good...but she again was quiet...

and i'm motherfucking tired. those kids at church wore my ass out!
Among many other things it was the season premiere of SVU. Katie introduced me to SVU last summer when I stayed with her, and I've been an addict ever since. On good weekends, we would watch the mini-SVU marathons that USA would show on Saturday nights and either chat about it on IM or on the phone. Its was sort of our...

Most hospitals will have AV guys *waves hand* that may do what freakpirate is suggesting. I've seen patients get away with murder so that the hospital could feel they gave top notch care.
Then again, I'm not a doctor. But hey, it wouldn't hurt to ask the folks at the hospital if it would be a good idea. Especially if you show her a mutual favorite episode.
Hang in there.
Today was another positive day. Kate enjoyed the mac and cheese, and chewed with no problem. She even had chocolate cake for dessert. Tonight was similar: spinach, ground beef and noodles, with applesauce, too. She didn't quite eat 50% of either plate, but she'll get there eventually.
Therapists worked with Kate on the mat first this morning, and walked her in the afternoon session....

I'm sorry about katie. when I read a couple of days ago I didn't make the connection.
I keep her in my thoughts.
I don't even know what to say.

Today was difficult. It started with two nurses' aides "dropping" Katie as they were pivoting her from bed to chair. Kate fell to her knees, and I, of course, got hysterical. That set the tone for the day.
Initially Kate had trouble walking in p-t, but then therapists decided to have her walk between the parallel bars and that worked. Kate lifted...

What you're going through, all I know is that generally speaking, talking it out is good. Your chronicles about Katie's story have been inspiring for more people than you realize, and it's a very good thing that you're able to reach out here and to your friends and flag folks that you're stumbling over some stuff and could use a hand.
As you can see, you've got all the support and encouragement of your friends online and in the immediate vicinity, and you clearly have good instincts on knowing when you're in trouble. Get whatever good help your instincts or friends suggest that makes sense. If you're dealing with some heavy shit and this is in fact a nervous breakdown, at least know that you can weather it, and that 1) you can either overcome all the stress or 2) when it goes away by itself, there will be smoother sailing for you.
You're a good dude who deserves the help and support you need. We'll be here.
It took Kate one day to learn that walking with two legs is better than walking with one. Today while walking, she picked up and put down her right leg on her own about six times. At one point, therapists told her to slow down...seemed like she wanted to run! Can't wait for Monday when the therapy sessions increase!! Mom Angie
Mealtime today was terrific....

I couldn't post again last night and it is now 5:30 a.m. and I have to leave for the hospital.
I just wanted to quickly let you all know that yesterday was the BEST day Kate has had.
After two days, she graduated from the parallel bars. SHE IS NOW WALKING!!! Therapists put each of her arms around them and guide her steps down the...

but how do you control a joystick w/ a joystick? isn't that a bit liike a sword fight?
Kate will definitely move up to the next level of rehab next week. Before then, starting Monday, she will get an extra half hour of physical therapy.
She still doesn't like to eat anything that isn't cold and sweet. At dinner, when I fed her the strained green vegetable, she made a face and clearly said, "Pooey." I tried a second time. She repeated her...

And I know, it's crazy, isn't it? I guess I had to grow up sometime. Might as well be befor eI hit 30.
That's great Katie news! What kind of recovery are they looking at in the future? Are they expecting her to make a full recovery eventually? Becasue it seems like her pregress is slow, but steady!
For 8 out of the last 21 years, we have walked the Mackinac Bridge in St. Ignace on Labor Day. Today I promised Kate that we will do it again 365 days from now.
Dave told Kate to make today a "talking" day. She obliged. She spoke several words and phrases and made sounds all day long. She shook her head yes and no appropriately,...

Seriously, I happy that Katie is making progress. Every step counts my friend. Every step counts.
I think I asked you this before, but have you read "Kabuki"? Yeah, I'm pretty sure I asked you this, but Mack's work on there is awesome. In fact, he's been consistently awesome, unlike some comic writers and artists. Though I have to admit it's a lil weird to see an introspective Wolverine.
Anyway, u take care now.
