Thursday... the best day last week.
Field trip for school, we went to CenterPoint Energy's test kitchens, where all the new professional natural gas ovens and ranges are tested by restaurant owners and chefs before purchase. We had a couple hours of lectures and Q&A, then the last two hours were us cooking all kinds of food in this super nice new equipment. Chicken, pasta, rice, vegetables, cookies, etc.
They have this combi oven (part convection, part steam) that's about $20,000 - you can program anything and everything down to the last detail of cooking individual foods, and it will retain a menu where you just tell it what you're cooking on a touch screen (with pictures..hehe..you know in case you can't read or something) and it just buzzes when it's done. The steam prevents dryness and eliminates the need to baste, and the convection eliminates the need to rotate; it cooks a lot faster because you never need to open the door during cooking.
After all that food and excitement, it was time for a nap and a bath. Then:
Got sushi at Sushi Tango (mmm.. crunchy maki), and a bottle of wine, then a couple martinis. Decided to play pinball at Mortimer's, but some asshole fucked up the Sopranos pinball machine (I will find you, wherever you are), so Jon and I had a pitcher then went home to see how drunk everyone else was.
And they were... damn. I've never seen so many play-fights break out at once. I got tackled a few times, for no apparent reason. I was told that maybe it was just an attempt to instigate a drunken make-out session.
I got to wear the schoolgirl outfit... I think he liked it.
I'll just say that you know it was a fun night when you can't find your clothes in the morning.
I came up with a drink last night; I was making my menu for nutrition class and it had a kind of Japanese theme with the ingredients. I was drinking a martini, and decided to make one with pickled ginger instead of olives, just as dirty as I usually drink them (about a full tablespoon of brine from the jar per drink). It was incredible! I tried with the cheap vodka first, in case it turned out to be a bad idea, then I had it with Stoli.
I think I might add just a tiny pinch of wasabi next time instead. You never know.
My email has been all fucked up lately. I just got a bunch of backed-up emails from March. Fucking weird.
Yay, I'm getting Netflix again! Twin Peaks, here I come! Only the two-at-a-time this time, I think it'll be enough.
Still no job, but I'm set for two months. Rent is paid through November, and I have a bit of money left for bills and shit. I think I may call my parents this year, and see if I can guilt-trip them into giving up just a little for my tuition. They're both probably as broke as I am, though. *sigh*
Where's a sugar daddy when I need one? Heh. Nevermind, I could probably never go through with using someone like that. The money should just fall from the sky or miraculously appear in my bank account or something.
Not sure what to do tonight. I'm thinking a little drinking/studying session is in order. I have two quizzes to take on Monday.
Damn, I am a typing fool today. What a rant. If I talked as much as I typed, I don't think anyone could stand to be around me.
