this theatre gig i had this weekend totally fucked up my sleeping schedule... 
but im totally glad its over 
i was a techie for a french dance company and it was .... a valuable experience. 
me: "so the dancers are gonna enter stage right?"
choreographer: "no. from LEFT."
me: (looking at where shes pointing)
"but thats called stage right"
c: "no. you are wrong. it is called LEFT."
me: "well im a dancer too and we call it stage right. if you stand on stage and face the audience, its stage...."
c: "ahhh. youre not a dancer right now so call it LEFT because if you stand in the audience it is LEFT"
me: "im a theatre designer too and we also call it stage right..."
c: "ahhhhh. but you are WRONG. it is LEFT"
me: "....
so the dancers enter OVER THERE and thats my cue to...."
what a fiasco. i can deal with choreographers who don't really know how theatre techies work. i CAN'T deal with choreographers who dont know shit and aggresively impose their own ways on us and won't LISTEN. just let us do our jobs and we can work together to make your show a success! its that simple.
