i sort of got myself involved with someone who is very different from me. which makes the long term prospects of this....thing (i can't really call it a "relationship," but it's been an on again/off again something for about 6 months now) seem rather hopeless. yet for 2 people who've said it's hopeless to see each other we seem to be seeing quite a bit of each other.

sounds like a helluva time. myself, i drank very little on new years. i went to a party co-hosted by someone i've been dating. i knew all of two people there who both got ridiculously drunk and i wound up taking them home with me. they were courteous drunks though, and kept the puking to the toilet and the trash can, which i greatly appreciated!
