I fell down the stairs. Not in a showy way, like in the movies, but my foot slipped on the top stair, and I went bumping down at least four of them on my ass. I had a difficult time for a few minutes after that, practicing some deep breathing exercises (it just SOUNDED like whimpering), and wondering what was left down there to break. I broke my tailbone when I was in elementary school, and the end of it had settled itself along the inside of the end of my spine long ago, so all there is now is a blunt end. This isn't really obvious visually, but it's still creepy, and it's why I can't do sit-ups without a soft surface.
Well, today, more than twenty four hours after the fall, I don't seem to be anything more than very bruised, and I'm being very careful sitting down and getting back up again, because if I don't, it hurts. Other than that, I'm feeling fine.

I dreamt last night that I was a vampire wandering around some multi-storied night club. I was wearing a powdered wig, a flat-front corset, and a navy-blue dress with petticoats. It seemed sort of pre-Elisabethan, but I'm not really sure. I sat down with a group that was really eclectic, with some people being dressed in a futuristic style, and some of them looking like Ren-faire fugitives. There was a variety of foods and alcoholic drinks on the table, which I tasted a few of. I refused one drink that someone offered me, and that seemed to make everyone insane, and I was forced to leave the table before they realized what I was. I was followed by a few guys, and one of them caught me to ask about another woman who had been at the table. I don't remember what he asked, but when I answered in affirmative, he thanked me, and then grabbed me. He kissed me, and I thought, "is this right? Didn't he see the ring on my finger?" He released me, and I ran to find my way out of the club. I went past a mirror at some point and thought that it was odd anyone wanted to kiss me, as it was not a very flattering outfit I was wearing, certainly not revealing, and it smelled kind of musty. Around dawn I wandered into the court yard of a strange complicated concrete building, which I recognised as a crypt. I knew my spot was there, because I saw a death portait of myself posted there, and thought "I really wish someone would have closed my jaw properly before they took that, because I look gruesome with it hanging like that." I opened the door to the outer crypt area, and leaned my head in. I saw dusty floors, no lights, and all the glass windows and crypt drawers had a very art-nouveau look to them. I had a sudden feeling of revulsion, and shivered. I thought "Oh no, I'm not sleeping in THERE." I found an abandoned mansion that I knew, but when I got there, there was already another vampire occupying it. He was clinging to the inside of a round inset in the ceiling, which must have been the underside of a cupola-type structure on the roof, and he was raving about how even the gold leaf was gone. The inside of the house was a wreck, and looked like it had been stripped by salvage crews. Indeed, there were empty stripes and looped lines decorating the ceiling, which looked as if they should have been guilded. I was standing below the insane man, looking at the remains of the room, and that's when I woke up, and the dream ended.

One of these days I'm going to find the fairy who brings these weird energy-sapping, mind-emptying, ache inducing spells to me, and I'm going to kick her ass into next week.

I've almost got my christmas shopping done. Well, I think so. I made a list, and a good deal of the blanks are filled up. I just have to get myself going and finish up the hand-made portions of some of the gifts. I was going to leave a card and a tip for the mail carrier on our route that had a sentiment along the lines of "Thank you for putting up with all our oversized packages", and then thought better of the wording. Maybe I'll use the word "parcels" instead. biggrin
