My daughter leaves tomorrow evening, not to return for 8 days. I am not excited about this, and its going to make me crazy. There have only been a few times we were apart that long. That, and after spending almost ever moment of the last three months with her, its going to be strange not having her here even for that short period of time.

See it as a trial period for the future: Girls to tend to grow up fatser than boys and at 13 I'm afraid she'll at best have only limited periods of time for available for you. You are a marvelous father, so you'll have your quality time, but no more.
Or as one of my friends puts it: At 13 they are taken by the aliens.
Be sure you have enough things to keep you busy, so you won't be thinking about it all the time.
