Must stop reading DUNE.

I work in a Bookshop. Books are a tricky item to run a business of, because the profit margins aren't that great. Therefore, anything that's a guaranteed seller (Example, ooooooh, I dunno, HARRY POTTER) gets a shed load of attention within the industry.

For the record, I've read all the Harry Potter books from Philosophers Stone, to Half Blood Prince. I did this just so I could be fully justified when I say that they are TRASH, unforgiveable TRASH, with undertones of unpleasant class bias.

I class it as Blue Peter entertainment. No kid I knew liked Blue Peter*, it was dull and worthy and DULL. But loads of them watched it, because their parents liked them to watch it. I belive that this is the secret of Harry Potters success - instead of appealling to the kids, appeal to the parents, especially the kind of aspirational pricks that really like the idea of boarding schools.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this... I'm hungry now.
