I really don't want my journal thing here to become a constant bitchfest, but what can I say, certain things have been irritating me lately.
It has come to my attention that only a small percentage of people actually know what the hell IRONY is. Most of the time when people think something is ironic it is merely coincidental or unfortunate. and for some reason this pisses me off to no end.
That song, "Ironic," by Ms. Morrrrissssetttte is a prime example of how people confuse irony with coincidental or unfortunate events. It is NOT ironic if a man is afraid of flying his whole life, gets on a plane, and then the plane crashes. What happened was what he expected. It would be ironic if he was afraid of flying and then was somehow convinced that there was ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that the plane would crash, and then the plane crashes.
Irony is when the exact opposite of what is expected happens. One reason why I think irony is so difficult to grasp these days is that we usually expect the ironic. We expect the unexpected or the complete opposite. So irony has basically become the norm, causing thousands, if not millions of people to misunderstand what irony actually is. And I guess this wouldn't really bother me so much if some of the people who thought they knew what irony was weren't WRITERS or REVIEWERS.
Yesterday I sparred and fought a couple people I normally would feel a little hestitant sparring. To my own surprise, I got some damn good shots in there. And again to my own surprise, I started getting cocky. I was making some snide remarks here and there. There's nothing I respect more than humility, so I feel kind of weird when I think about when I was being a cocky prick last night. I really am proud of how I'm improving and how good of a fighter I'm becoming, but I have to remember not to become an ass. Shit, sparring is fun, though.
I should post some pictures of myself kicking some ass sometime.
I'm going to go suppress my pride now.

I agree, though. people over adn misuse it about 95% of the time.
