That's right, bitches! I successfully conquered student teaching and next week I fucking gradgitate from college. as magna cum laude, no less. The dominant attitude upon graduation? meh. My fingers have been printed and by the end of May I'll be fully licensed to teach Language Arts (English, literature, communication, media, reading, writing, etc.) to children from grade 5 to 12. ....spooky.
so what's my next step? ....uhm. guess I should've spent more time pondering on that one.
Going to Japan for a year to teach conversational English still sounds adequately bitchin. That's probably what I'd like to do more than anything else at the moment. I currently have nothing tying me down and now's the time to do it. Except for a few select people, there's not a whole lot I believe I'm gonna miss. It's time to leave some of this shit behind and become an expatriate, at least temporarily. I just want out of here.
or. I could take a year off and work a couple menial, low cognitive jobs while I hungrily consume everything readable and watchable in sight. There are so many things I just NEED and WANT to read and watch and EXPERIENCE. After five years of college, I feel like a lot of my post-secondary youth has been squandered. but. now that I wanna let loose & raise hell, everyone I know is getting married!
but I digress. If I take one year off, why not take TWO years off and go for my Master's? that'd be the next logical step if I were to someday go for a Phd (although I've yet to take the GRE. ahem). and if I'm taking a couple years off, why not just take a full-time teaching job here (if one's available)?

I seemed to have developed an occasional, nigh-debilitating and tear-inducing morning back pain. helping friends carry a 175lbs. glass aquarium (among other things) up a flight of stairs because no one else they know was willing to help them move certainly doesn't help either. s'pose I should probably get that checked out, eh?
