Christmas and New Year's came and went. If I were to make a resolution I guess it would be to expand my lexicon without having it sound contrived or me sounding pretentious. and to experiment creatively. and to eat my body weight in marshmallow peeps.

Christmas was tedious as usual and New Year's was spent at a party out in the boonies where you could kill someone and hide the body in a field for a good several weeks. There was drunken hot tubbing, drunken pseudo-Irish dancing, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that was pretty much it. I went despite not feeling sociable; Jason asked if I wanted to go and who can guess what may ensue at a New Year's shindiggity.

ALL I really wanted to do, though, was to put on my slippers and watch movies, read, and listen to new music. But it was more or less an enjoyable time even though my salty pisser of a friend Jason slapped me in the face for no reason (other than he was more than a LITTLE tipsy, that is. I was also a bad friend and made the mistake of not stopping him when he called up some girl while in that state. I am full of shame). I got to hear about some new bands, see people from high school who I haven't seen in years, and receive some phone calls from totally random acquaintances wishing me a Happy New Year.

so yeah. The night was filled with acceptable fun. The next morning I came home and fried steak and battered broccoli in oil fondu. num to the max.

I'm fighting my student teaching placement in a 6th grade classroom because that's NOT where I want to fucking be and how would it look on a resume if I were applying for a high school teaching position and they saw that my primary teaching experience was with friggin 6th graders. I don't want to be in a 6th grade classroom. My advisors don't want me in a 6th grade classroom. 7th or 8th grade? okay. But to make a complicated and boring explanation short, I won't even be licensed to teach 6th graders immediately.

Unfortunately, no drag shows or local shows were attended recently, but I did hit the Artists' Quarter and met some nifty peoples. and the comic book shop, Shinders, of all places! I met the second fangirl thus far in my life who can actually carry on a conversation about comics. The first one being Amy's sister, Ann. Speaking of that lanky chunk of androgyny (Amy), how about a random picture?

someone looks like she's up to no good...

Y'know, there was a time when I kinda cared about how many comments I received, as if this were some kind of high school popularity contest. bloody hell. comments are always nice & appreciated. but what was I thinkin.

The band of the week is The Mountain Goats but the site doesn't have the song I wanna post. ah well.

Well I think that's all for now folks. Hope you all put your leap second to good use. I have a feeling this will be a year of uncertainty and discombobulation.
and that's not a bad thing...

Too much to do! I'm off! up & away!

p.s. dial-up makes me want to throw bunnies into a wood chipper

peeps make tossing-bile-cookies sounds in the scraps of my unbirthdayed mind.

i'm afraid of the crazed belligerance and utter annoyance that would ensue if i were to ever teach children, or high schoolers, or try to delineate the acceptable line between teaching 7th vs. 6th grade. good luck.
