I took a class over 3 years ago, and then didn't take another one. I started again in the fall and now it's become such a part of things that I find myself shimmying down the hallway and it takes no effort at all to pick up my drum and start to play a beat. It's so very good for your body too - makes you use and limber up muscles that you don't use nearly enough. 
Good luck finding a class and the music. I can give you the beat the way I was taught it:
Doum Doum Tec Ca Tec Doum Tec Ca Tec Tec Ca
The Doums are accomplished by hitting the drum in the middle and the Tec is hitting one hand's fingers on the edge of the drum to the side, and the Ca is hitting the other hand's fingers on the edge of the drum at the top. The 'Doum' is very deep and bass-like, making me want to hip drop all the way 'round the room. I hope that made some sense to you. It seems that actual musical notation doesn't really exist, it's mostly in terms of Doums, Tecs, and Cas...
