ok ill finally update now. just havent had the energy for it.
last week i went on vacation with the boyfriend. we drove down to St. Louis and saw a Cardinals game.
they won! we had fun. its such beautiful park!
we then drove down Highway 3 along the Mississippi and made our way into Carbondale!
It's been a year since i've graduated. I'm starting to see changes with every visit back. Fewer people i know are still there, new buildings and businesses keep popping up ((which is a good thing)), and im finding myself.....feeling different. I know this is only the way of things. I know one day i will come back for a visit and no one will know me and everything will have changed. Strange enough Im ok with it. I know that Carbondale will change into something else as i will change too once time goes by.
Anyway, our week was spent hiking around Giant City State Park, Garden of the Gods State Park in the Shawnee Forest and a walk around the SIU campus lake. Of course other parts of the week were spent getting drunk.

this stairway sucks! so exhausted when i get to the top of it. i call it the stairway to heaven.
Garden of the Gods as once on the bottom of a shallow sea. rivers dumped sand and silt into the sea resulting in these amazing rock formation of sandstone.

we stayed with our friend andi and jef and she took this picture of me one night.
all in all vacation was good. we were ready to go home by the time friday rolled around but im definitely ready for another vacation now a week later. i really hate work. i cant wait to leave this job. im hoping the resumes i sent out yesterday result in something.
in a few weeks we will be going to my cabin in wisconsin with my family for my moms birthday and then to pittsburg with his family for a baseball game. then sometime in july we have a weekend to ourselves at the cabin. can not wait for that! and then in october he is taking me to California. so i guess i shouldnt complain about working alot or not having vacations. the next several months are dotted by weeks off.
when we were on vacation we had lunch before we left at Fat Patties a burger joint my friend Lance started about a year ago. He makes the best fried green beans ever! its great local food and if you are ever there you should check them out! i was also lucky enough to buy a book written by a regular of my favorite bar down there PK's!
I just finished it and it awesome! Gory, sexy, original and honest! Plus it takes place in the best bar! It was such a new experience to read a story that takes place in a bar i frequent. That movie you play in your head when you read a book is made up as you go along but this time it was different because i know that place!
I've been struggling alot lately with how life changes and people move in and out of my life. So many people that meant the world to me seem so far away after this past year. Best friends, roommates, and classmates have not stayed as close as i thought they would. Ive tried really hard to keep in touch with them only to be essentially shot down. I'm sorry but i dont buy the Im so busy excuse when there are so many ways to keep in touch. Calls not returned, text message inside jokes un loled, messages seemingly unread. What the hell was the point of all that bonding, friendship and memories if the person you made them with is just thrown to the side when your life changes? Just a wall post, a text message, a 5 minute call to let me know you miss me too would mean the world to me. I'm finding myself reluctant to get close to new friends girls and guys as im expecting them to be gone in the next 6-12 months.
but i guess thats how life goes?
anyway i hope everyone is SG land is well. I'll have more pics of something fun soon i promise.

I want to make a trip to St. Louis, mainly cuz I've never been there before and just wanna. I hear it's kinda rough in spots. I could see taking a road trip downstate and exploring St. Louis, Nashville, Louisville, Indy some more . . .
i've heard about garden of the gods, but wasn't sure if it was a vast area or just a pretty point of interest. apparently, gods love broccoli.
