ever heard of an inland hurricane? yeah i have but thats because i was in it. and i sat in front of a picture window the whole time. in a towel.

in southern illinois, carbondale, murphysboro, marion and the surrounding various little towns were hit by a inland hurricane on may 8th. fucking nuts. we didnt have power for 5 days and im pretty sure some people still dont. i was sad to see my favorite college town ripped apart, to see those huge trees i had loved walking underneath on campus laying on the ground. it sucked that my family came down to see me graduate only to stay in a dark hotel and have to drive 1/2 hour for dinner in Du quoin. but it was wonderful to see the town pull together and help eachother. businesses setting up generators so we could all do something other than sit in the dark ((THANKYOU PK'S)), free food since we all were at a loss of how to feed ourselves without power. things were finally getting back to normal when i left today. Thankyou to Ameren workers for busting their ass to give us power! did you know that there is nothing to do in the dark except drink?

I've now left carbondale for good. I've graduated with a Bachelors in Science majoring in Mortuary Science and Funeral service. I'm sad. I miss the town already and the past month down there was awesome. I think i got to see everyone i wanted to see before i left and had to say goodbye to some new people i just met. I miss my bar terribly. I miss the place I can go and know someone and not even have to tell the bartender what i want because they already know.

Im terrified of what is ahead of me. I don't feel ready for the rest of my life. I now have to find a job as an apprentice funeral director and embalmer. Not as easy as you might think. Especially because i did not pass my national boards. Hardest test i've ever taken. I missed the second half by 2 points. Granted its not the end of the world since i can take it again in a month but still makes me even more nervous about this future. I've never been great with change but i always persevere and survive in the end once i get through my freak out time.

I have a few new pictures but they are on my camera in my car and i'm to exhausted from driving home today to go out side and get them. plus i think im getting sick which is just running me down even more and making me feel like even more hell. i will post them tomorrow.

One thing I've learned from reading your blogs is: AERYKA DOESN'T BACK DOWN. Sure change is scary, but so was going to school, and look how wonderful that turned out. So...take a little rest, readjust, and then go kick some ass. Any funeral home would be lucky to have you. Good Luck and keep us posted.
