so i went to border's the other night to get hunter's newest literary offering ? "kingdom of fear." it's the proper thing to do, you realize, when a man of his stature releases new work; it MUST be obtained with little or no delay.
as i'm approaching the 'media' section where the greater body of his work resides, i see a girl crouching in the general vicinity. the first thing i think is 'wow ? great hair.' i then see's she's QUITE cute, dressed quite well and has 0 guage plugs in her ears. like wow. i make an offhanded comment along the lines of 'here for HST's new book, too?'
she looks up with these BEAUTIFUL big green eyes lined slightly with black eyeliner, smiles and says 'no. should i be?'
and that set me off on a 20 minute lecture extolling the brilliant career of the good doctor. as it turns out, she's familiar with him but never read any of his work. more discussion. books, movies, music ? we're on the EXACT same page. she plays guitar (in a band, no less ? and it's a black SG) as well as numerous other instruments, she ranked 'scarface' as one of the top movies ever, she's heard of kyuss, her screen name (yes, i got that too) alludes to TOOL ... i could go on and on about the frightening parallels we drew. we talked for at least 2 or 3 hours, i honestly don't know. coffee, smokes, etc.
only one thing.
she's 18. i'm 25.
you know, i don't think i care. because before i knew she was 18, i thought he to be at least 22. she had this aura of maturity and confidence i've never seen in an 18 y/o. she certainly LOOKS older. regardless, she's incredible. as my friend phatboy put it after i told him the whole story:
'wow ? it's like milhouse meeting female milhouse.'
i agree.
we're going out on monday.
so ... anyone? is this awful? i've always made snarky comments regarding people my age dating people her age; but goddamn, she's EXACTLY like me. if she weren't so fucking PRETTY (not hot, not cute ... pretty. as in this undeniable, natural attractiveness that cannot be diminished in any way) and nice and excited to discuss things i've not discussed with anyone in a LONG time ... it'd be different. but she is. and i'm breaking the rule i made for myself about not dating anyone younger. christ, she's in a totally DIFFERENT generation. i was in grade school when she was born. she's the same age as my best friend's little sister!
