i have to say, right now, chris cornell is among the greatest vocalists ever. he has this intriguing combination of 80's hair metal screamer but still somehow not cheesy. (god knows i love bruce dickinson but, you know, give the epic-ness a rest, brother) i've been listening to audioslave constantly and never before has tom morello been so NOT in front. granted, he's a badass guitar hero, something music has been sorely lacking for quite a while, but chris just jumps in front of everything just like he did with soundgarden and somehow overshadowed the likes of kim thayil (who i still say is a one-of-a-kind) and matt cameron,who might be the best rock drummer these days.
there's so much passion mixed with a healthy dose of nihilism in his voice ... he cares, but couldn't care less, you know? it's odd. every time he puts out something new, i remember how much i dig the guy.
and at the same time, it disheartens me because there's been ZERO music this good in a long time. a collective of TALENT writing music that no one else could write or perform. true, there're bands that might try to sound like what tom morello and company do, but lack that extra fire tom brings. and no one else can do what chris does. you have all these stupid little copycat punk rock/pop rock/hard rock/rapcore/whatever bands that can't be distinguished from each other because they ALL SOUND THE SAME. these stupid little punk rock bands are the worst for this ... THEY ALL SOUND THE SAME.

my girlfriends don't listen to me either. this type of dancing gets them through school, hard times, etc. it gets them to their hawaiian vacations. all you can do is offer support, listen. je ne sais pas. good luck.
