I've just got back from the hospital after spending 3 and a half hours in A&E.

Whilst out driving one of the vans from work I ran into the back of someone, not much damage to his car, just a dented bumper, but it damaged the vans radiator (and possibly more), so I was stuck with my hazard lights on waiting for the tow truck to come pick me up. I'd literally just got off the phone to the recovery service when all of a sudden ...

SMASH.

Someone hit the back of the van doing at least 30-40 mph, whilst I was in it. I was just about to get out having only been in there to use the light to read the paperwork and make the calls.

Fire service, police, ambulances, all there within minutes. The guy that had hit me had broken his leg and his hip according to the paramedics, and they insisted I went back with them too to make sure it wasn't anything worse than whiplash.

The police officer who took our statements told me he pretty much took the blame for it so I'm all clear there but I'm still pretty shook up about it. The first crash was so scary that I was shaking like a leaf when I got out to inspect the damage, but that second incident was ten times worse. It was like something out of a movie. Even the paramedics were joking that it was like the opening to casualty.

I'm just glad I was in the van instead of my little car. My employers can write off a van without batting an eyelid but I'd be lost without my car. There would also be a lot less of me left standing. The 2 and a half tonnes of van behind me took the worst of the hit, so I've just got a nice helping of whiplash to enjoy over the weekend.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuck.
