My dog, Nikon, is very clever. She decided one day to dig a hole under the gate in our back yard attempting a great escape.. or not!
My dog Nikon is a minpin that we rescued several years ago. She was abandoned at the Toronto Humane Society in the middle of winter by her previous owner. He left her in the parking lot where she almost froze to death because he didn't want to pay the fee.
She was listed as adoptable because everyone who took her brought her back.. well she turned out to be the worlds best dog to our family. She may have spent the first two weeks we had her hiding under my sofa and she's was fearful of everyone who approached her. She still doesn't often take food from your hand but tends to cower as if your going to hit her instead of offer her a wonderfully yummy treat. Every night she sleeps on my pillow right beside me. She snuggles at my feet while I am on the computer and lavishes me with kisses every time I get close to her.
You couldn't ask for more unconditional love.. you just needed to give her a chance.
She will always be the worlds best dog to me.
Recently she was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure. We have 4 dogs.. all getting on in age and we had one of our othe dogs diagnosed with the same condition over 3 years ago. She was given 4 months to live and we put her on a special diet and gave her her medication each and every day and she's till with us. I hope Nikon is with us for many many more years too. She still acts like a puppy in my eyes.
