I know that's part of it. Women are raised courteous and tell white lies instead of telling the truth because it might hurt feelings. I understand that. But it's still silly, especially in adult relationships, that people can't be honest. It's juvenille.

The head in her hand is the head of ignorance lopped off by the sword of wisdom. She wears baby earrings and cobra bracelets. I think she just wears severed heads and limbs because she's just that cool. She makes me think of that george thouroughgood song about "a cobra snake for a neck-tie"
Kali is the most fully realized of all the Dark Goddesses. Her appearance is terrifying; She is black and emaciated, with fangs and claws. She wears a girdle of severed arms, a necklace of skulls or severed heads, earrings of children's corpses, cobras as bracelets or garlands. Her mouth is blood-smeared. She is accompanied by she-demons. Often She is shown standing or dancing on Her husband, the god Shiva; She squats feasting on his intestines while offering one breast.
Basically, she's the ultimate earth mother. She protects her children (the wise) and kills everyone else (demons and such). I think she's creation and destruction all rolled into one, but I'm not a hindu. Anyway, the story is that she and shiva were getting it on (i think she's the goddess of tantric sex too?) and he got a little too playful and teasingly called her "Darky". Her feelings were hurt and she started dancing like godzilla. Shiva saw that she was going to destroy everything with her dance and so he threw himself down at her feet. At the last moment she saw him, stopped and the world was saved from destruction. Then she smiled and stuck out her tongue at him.
Best of luck with school in the spring. I'm very tired of school myself... been here much too long. But I'm like you (in this one respect at least)... I need a job where I don't have to deal with people too much... and programming seems to fit the bill.
It's the same old theory-versus-practice problem, in a new guise: in theory, I like people just fine... in practice, I need a little buffer zone!

I will probably return to school in the fall for the same reason. Right now all my options involve customer interaction. But if I go on in math I can end up in a little anti-social hole somewhere getting paid to think. If I'm lucky.
